Mars enters my first house next weekend right around the time the fall equinox arrives. I’m looking forward to the six-week-long transit because it’s happening just as the weather starts to get colder in this part of the world. As I’ve mentioned a million times before on this blog, the heat of summer wears me out. My energy levels are already on the upswing at the moment, and with Mars entering the part of my chart associated with physical vitality, I should be at the top of my game.

However, this transit doesn’t come without a warning label. “Café Astrology” describes the biennial event as follows:

“You are able to stand your ground and assert yourself more than usual during this transit. You have energy at your disposal to move your plans forward, and you are more enterprising. You want to leave your mark on the world in some way — however big or small — and you are more able to make an impression than usual. If circumstances are such, you are able to easily fight back. In fact, you may be somewhat combative under this influence, and you may have a short temper. Avoid being pushy. Take charge of your life, but don’t bulldoze over others in the process! This is an excellent transit for assertiveness and physical vitality. Love affairs may also be stepped up during this period. On the rare occasion when an accident occurs, it is more likely to involve the head or face.”

It’s unlikely that I’ll “bulldoze” anyone, but I can be rather pushy when people pile up their bullshit on my path. I refuse to be blamed for other people’s mistakes. It’s just the way I am. Much of Mars’ transit through my first house takes place in the sign of Libra, though, so I’m not likely to be as assertive as anyone else who is experiencing this transit. Mars is muted in the sign and muted in my chart in general. I do feel its transits, but often as background noise, like the sound of a bulldozer off in the distance.

When Mars finally does move into my second house in November, it will be followed closely by the sun as the two planets move in tandem for much of the month. That’s going to be an interesting time for me, but it’s also a topic I’m going to need to explore in depth after I get back from my vacation. For now, I’m just going to focus on getting more done every day while Mars is on my side. It’s been a lazy summer, but the stars are telling me that it’s not going to be a lazy fall. And maybe next time I publish a post about a bulldozer, I’ll actually be motivated to find a photo of one. I think that’s a backhoe . . .
