The big news for me this July is the temporary ingress of Jupiter into my eighth house for a few weeks before it begins its retrograde cycle. The planet moves into that part of my chart on July 28 and remains there until October 13.
Astrologers assign a lot of different meanings to the eighth house. I like to call it “the house of inevitabilities” because of its association with sex, birth, death and — most importantly — taxes. This everything-but-the-kitchen-sink interpretation of the transit from “Café Astrology” makes that point clear:
“This is a time of spiritual contentment — of coming to terms with power and sharing issues in your life. During this cycle, you are less sensitive to power struggles and issues of sharing resources. You are less likely to resort to manipulative tactics, and less concerned about leaving yourself emotionally vulnerable to others.
You may see benefits in the areas of joint finances, shared resources, loans, taxes, sexuality, intimacy, healing, personal transformation, research, investigation, and psychological matters during this cycle.
This is a time of increased psychological understanding, intimacy, and perhaps accumulation of wealth if you manage your resources well. You are more capable of helping friends and loved ones who are dealing with a crisis — you can be leaned upon. Any type of in-depth study or research is likely to go well.
An insurance settlement, tax rebate, or an inheritance could come your way, and this is an excellent time to work on financial planning and strategy. A new home or new car is possible now. Financial gains may come through a partnership or there may be an increase in a spouse’s income. Sexual opportunities are likely to abound, or your focus on one partner becomes more expansive, warm, and intimate.”
I’d like to focus upon the phrase “accumulation of wealth” during this brief period when the planet of opportunity will be transiting my eighth house. As I’ve mentioned a million times already on this blog, I’m going to Las Vegas a couple of days after Jupiter backtracks into my seventh house. I’m going to need some extra spending money!
All the same, I’m sort of in a holding pattern at the moment as far as my finances are concerned. I spent a ton on some much-needed dental work this spring that I can probably view as an investment in my future. I know the importance of getting these procedures done as they are needed rather than allowing them to become even bigger problems. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I’m back on track to get out of debt once and for all.
But I’m not sure that’s going to happen as soon as I would like it to happen. Once Jupiter moves back into my seventh house in October, it will remain there until mid-March next year. On the bright side, its transit into my seventh house has resulted in me making huge inroads at work when it comes to forging meaningful, productive relationships with my coworkers. I really feel as if I have had a hand in assembling the management team. After all the bullshit I’ve been through over the past several months, I’m now working for people that I respect. That’s going to make it much easier for me to make money once Jupiter settles into my eighth house next spring.
I’m looking forward to the change, even if I’m only going to get a taste of what’s to come in 2024. Alongside my second Saturn return in mid-March, the financial stability this transit portends is some welcome news.
