Star Struck Style

Transiting Mercury conjoins my natal Jupiter later today. I’m quite familiar with the textbook interpretations of the transit because of a unique configuration in my own natal chart: Mercury in Sagittarius in the third house in mutual reception to Jupiter in Gemini in the ninth house. Mutual reception brings the planets together like a conjunction, so even though they are technically in a wide opposition (about four degrees), they are in harmony with one another. Not only that, they are both situated in the houses over which they rule, strengthening their influence over my character.

The interpretations of the natal conjunction are in synch with the interpretations of this transit, and exactly what anyone who has studied astrology would expect them to be. My daily horoscope on astro.com details the transit as follows:

“Psychologically, this influence broadens your comprehension of any issue that you are interested in and your understanding of life in general as you encounter it today. You are concerned with the largest, most comprehensive possible view, and you are eager to incorporate new information into your way of looking at the world. At the same time you are intellectually more tolerant of other viewpoints, seeing them not as a threat to your views, but as a way of enlarging them. Your ability to see the larger view today enables you to plan with foresight. Where others see only confusion, you can see a pattern and come up with insights that will amaze others. In business or social activities you are able to organize very effectively, grouping people together so they can work most efficiently.”

That sounds like my modus operandi already. I had planned to take care of a bunch things at work this afternoon that really won’t affect me until mid-September and beyond. It’s in my nature to look at the “big picture.” It’s no surprise that “Café Astrology” offers a similar interpretation:

“You can visualize in broader terms and see the “big picture” now. This could be a time when you have a strong desire to verbalize your own goals and ideals. Travel is favored. You are optimistic, which can help you attract positive circumstances. As well, your powers of persuasion are particularly strong now. This is a good time to submit ideas, applications, promotional efforts, and so forth, all things equal.”

That is exactly where I was headed today, anyway. Again, with the mutual reception configuration in my horoscope between Mercury and Jupiter, I’m not the kind of person who can’t see the forest for the trees. No one needs to encourage me to broaden my perspective. My “big picture” thinking was written in the stars.
