I just read that Simone Bellotti has replaced Rhuigi Villaseñor as the creative director of Bally.

I adore Bally! I have a bunch of Bally shoes and even some Bally clothes. While it’s never been the sort of brand that I associate with a particular person, I have been impressed with the direction of the brand’s advertising over the past couple of seasons. Without looking desperate, Villaseñor has reminded everyone that Bally has always been there.

I’d love to write more about Bellotti and what he might bring to the brand, but I just can’t be bothered to go down the rabbit hole while I try to find a date of birth for the designer. It’s just such a chore! If I remember correctly, I don’t believe that I ever found out Daniel Lee’s birthday, or Matthieu Blazy’s birthday, for that matter. I didn’t really get into Lee’s version of Bottega Veneta, but I’m crazy for Blazy. I’d love to know their zodiac signs so that I can figure out what makes them tick, and what makes me respond to their work in either a positive or negative manner.

Maybe one day I’ll get back into the mindset that allowed me to write a couple of books on fashion astrology, but today is not that day. Still, I’m going to keep my eyes and ears open just in case someone like Simone Bellotti just happens to mention his zodiac sign in an interview like Thom Browne did when I discovered his birthday. Or maybe one of my friends in the fashion business will be interviewing someone famous and let me know that they’ve discovered a designer’s sun sign. That’s how I found out that Richard Quinn and Phoebe Philo are Capricorns.

After a couple of years of cooling down, my passion for fashion and fashion astrology seems to be heating up again — at least the pendulum seems to be swinging back in that direction. Let’s see how long I can keep this up before some other shiny object captures my attention!
