November 19 is Gene Tierney’s birthday.
I’ve been doing this astrology thing for a long time. That doesn’t stop me from getting excited when I discover something that I have never noticed before. Just a few minutes ago, I realized that Gene Tierney is a Scorpio. Of course, that got me thinking about “Laura” and the film noir genre.
Why did it take me so long to connect the star with her sign? I guess there are a lot of celebrities out there who have been in a lot of movies. Nowadays, I sit on my ass in front of the the TV with a tablet by my side, ready to look up the birthdays of stars when I am initially connecting the roles they have played with their zodiac signs. That’s a luxury I didn’t have when I started down this path almost twenty years ago.
I need to watch “Laura” again. It’s a great movie. I remember it as being stylish and sort of dark — perhaps even Scorpionic. Rotten Tomatoes calls it “a psychologically complex portrait of obsession” and “a deliciously well-crafted murder mystery.”
It makes sense that Gene Tierney’s legacy is a film that portrays her as a femme fatale. She had five planets in the water signs and four in the earth signs. It’s a dark, sort of heavy chart. If I am to believe the time of birth provided on astrotheme.com, her Pisces moon and Gemini rising sign go a long way to explaining her real-life battle with mental illness.
Anyway, I’m glad I looked her up. I have to say that my enthusiasm for my craft is at an all-time high. Now if I could just figure out a way to make the rest of you knuckleheads listen to me.
