Mars (source: The Mirror)

Mmm . . . look at that Mars Bar! It’s only October 10 and I’ve already stopped myself from buying Halloween candy a couple of times. I know what a terrible idea it is to have boxes of Mars Bars sitting around the house when there is still plenty of time for me to eat them all before the actual holiday arrives.

Anyway, I’m supposed to be discussing the planet Mars and its current transit through my twelfth house. I realized that I’ve been writing this blog long enough to revisit the last time Mars moved from my twelfth house to my first house. I went back to review some of my previous posts, and I was quite amazed to discover the manner in which I chronicled this transit both on this blog and on my various social media accounts.

First of all, I use the Placidus house system, so Mars doesn’t enter my first house until it reaches 17° 39″ Libra. What’s interesting about that is the perceptible increase of my personal investment in maintaining my social media accounts once Mars is in my first house as compared to the lapse in my self-promotion when Mars is in my twelfth house. Even my Facebook memories and Instagram history bear this out. September and October of 2017 (the last time Mars transited my twelfth house) saw me virtually retreating from social media altogether when compared with my rather ubiquitous — even aggressive — online presence shortly thereafter.

One thing to note is that Mars was traveling behind the sun in 2017, just like it is today. Once the sun entered my first house, I did see an increase in the amount of posts I published on this blog, but I didn’t really start talking about myself incessantly (as is the custom) until Mars crossed over my ascendant and into my Placidus first house.

I know that a lot of astrologers are using whole sign houses nowadays, but the more I pay attention to transit in my own horoscope, the more I’m convinced that I was using the right system all along. I have no problem with anyone else approaching astrology with different tools in their toolbox. I do, however, get annoyed when I read about the accuracy of whole sign houses from some idiot on Twitter who has been practicing astrology for two weeks. I’d like to take a wrench out of my own toolbox and hit them over the head with it.

Perhaps I’ll do that once Mars enters my first house, but that doesn’t occur for another three weeks. In the meantime, I’m going to keep focusing my energy on figuring myself out. Mars in the twelfth house is an introspective position, and I’ve been learning a lot about my current state of affairs since the planet entered this part of my chart. My head has been in a different place for the past couple of weeks, and for the first time in a while I feel confident about where I am going.

Mars moves into this sector of my chart in two days from now. I don’t believe that I need to be more introspective at the moment, but I do know that I need to reevaluate my relationship with social media. A step back from Facebook and Twitter would do me good.
