September 20 is Michelle Visage’s birthday.

Like most people born in my generation, Michelle Visage has both Uranus and Pluto in Virgo. She was born just a few days before Uranus moved into Libra. Unlike most people born in my generation, however, the entertainer has three other planets in Virgo: the sun, the moon and Jupiter.

It’s no surprise that Michelle Visage behaves like a typical Virgo. What’s really interesting to me, though, is that she has become synonymous with criticism. Her stint as a judge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” was written in the stars.

Virgo is the sign of the critic. Using Placidus houses, the sun, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto all reside in her tenth house of career, with Jupiter, the planet of opportunity, being the most-elevated planet in her horoscope. She also has a conjunction of Mercury and Venus in Libra in her eleventh house, directly opposite Saturn in Aries in the fifth. I used to look at Venus/Saturn squares and oppositions as being something that would inhibit artistic expression, but I keep seeing them in the charts of some of the most creative people. Still, those people have to work awfully hard to have their creativity appreciated. It’s almost as if they have to invent their own genre in order to find a career in which they can excel. Michelle Visage isn’t exactly the world’s first “Drag Hag,” but she has certainly elevated the position into an art form all its own.

Her Scorpio rising sign combined with her Virgo sun presents her with an image of studied, sexy perfectionism. To use a word that she would use herself, she is “snatched.” No one would take a word she says seriously if she didn’t walk the talk. To someone with all those tenth-house Virgo planets, being taken seriously is everything, and yet she can be remarkably un-serious. Her natal Mars is in Leo in the ninth house, indicating a big, boisterous personality and an individual who is capable of laughing at herself.

It’s interesting to note that Michelle Visage will be spending a couple of months on stage in the UK just as Jupiter moves into her first house the same week that she makes her debut. Her timing couldn’t be better. I wonder if she consulted an astrologer before she signed her contract? Her timing is uncanny, but with all those tenth-house planets, time will always be on her side. She might be fifty today, but everything in her chart tells me that she is going be around for a while.
