March 22 is William Shatner’s birthday.
A pioneering spirit is one of those things that is supposed to define an Aries individual. Curiously, there were three Aries natives aboard the bridge of the USS Enterprise on the original “Star Trek” series. William Shatner (who played Captain James T. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (who played Spock), and George Takei (who played Sulu) all share the same zodiac sign.
The mission of the starship — to boldly go where no man has gone before — could be an Aries mantra. What’s interesting to me is that the star of the newest installment of the franchise, Sonequa Martin-Green of “Star Trek: Discovery” is also an Aries (it was her birthday yesterday). Her character, Michael Burnham, seems to be a hybrid of Kirk and Spock.
Over the next four weeks or so, I’ll talk a lot about the textbook qualities that best-describe Aries natives, including the desire to take charge of situations and to be first at everything they do. Of course, they’ll be eager to tell me that I’m full of shit, and I’ll tell them that their ruling planet, Mars, makes them overly aggressive and unable to take constructive criticism. It’ll be like one long, drawn-out battle — like the Federation vs. the Klingons. Eventually, we’ll come to a place of mutual understanding because we have cardinality in common. I possess the triple cardinal combination of the sun in Capricorn, the moon in Cancer, and Libra rising. I am the antithesis of Aries energy, and yet I share a sense of direction with the members of that sign.
It might get ugly. I can be tough on Aries individuals because I often find them to be brusque and bossy. However, I do see the same characteristics mirrored in myself — just controlled and contained, like in the case of Spock. If I have to give my Aries friends a Vulcan nerve pinch every now and then just to get them to shut up, I’ll do it.
Anyway, stay tuned for more cosmic adventures. It’s going to be an exciting month.
